Very poor internet slow speeds and throttling your speed down at night. Hidden termination fees that even if you transfer your account from one state to another they set you up on a two year contract claiming early termination is 250.00 dollars. Monthly 90 dollars for bel I w standard or even advertised speeds. Very bad business would never recommend hughesnet to anyone.Absolute worst service ever! Especially the WiFi. Made it 3 times slower than the service itself. Thought it might have been a router issue but nothing changed with a new one. Called about it and they were of no help whatsoever so I canceled the service. They stole the $238 for cancelling as far as I'm concerned. Crooked company who can't be trusted or depended upon. They don't care about the customer at all only care about scamming the money from you.Monday is first week with Hughes net cost more than my phone DSL with Hughesnet approx speed 25, wow great. It is a total lie. Posting this be clear the agreement signed by me not to expected such poor performance all the time. I made a recorded record on outages. My FCC engineering licences # P1-19-37248 This 72 year old man retired now will see them in court. Total wrong... If a car it could not pull out driveway,,,, hell go the store! Lots of luck..HughesNet is the worst internet service ever. Started to Buffer. I sometimes I " Please Stop Buffering!"
Must stay away from HughesNet! Not fast enough! When ever we have a windy day my hughes net blows with it. My Hughes Internet service becomes extremely choppy if the wind hits speeds of 15-20 mph and its irritating as hell. Im going to have to have to kiss and make up with ATT over a billing dispute and return to their excellent hard wired Internet service where I live...The service was poor and what's even worse is when you cancel because of that they charged me 175 and then on top of that they charged my card 3 months later for the equipment I returned, so they continue to rip you off even after you are no longer a customer I'm still fighting with them almost 6 months later to get my money back for the equipment I returned!Worse thing I have done in years. We moved to an area where internet is limited and this seemed to be the only option. Four adults in the house and three use a large amount of data. I was assured we would have more than enough speed and data for the four of us.
In short, they lied through their teeth. We can go through 50 Gig in a few days. The extra 50 between 2 am and 8 am can get used just as quickly. I could not come close to watching a streaming show. Still can't. I have to monitor the usage constantly to avoid the extremely expensive charges for additional data.
Their customer service is useless and rude.
In short, don't do it.
If you try and find real reviews for this company you'll find yourself constantly pushed toward Hughes net patting themselves on the back.
Being in the middle of moving, buying a house and selling a house I couldn't really focus on researching these creeps. At the moment it will cost over $600 to cancel them. Disgusting bunch of thieves.
I've attached a picture of my router as proof of having a severe case of stupidity.Misrepresented the cable speed. Lied about product. Blamed slow speed on my phone, but new phone didn't corre t problems. They sent out a service technician and he said satellite dish needed minor adjustment. Didn't fix problem which has been associated since installation. HughsNet charged my credit card $125 for the service call without my approval. This was never discussed because the problem had existed since installation. HughsNet refuses to credit my credit card. Said I could just use the $125 up with monthly fees.My family of 4 and I need internet. I contacted them telling them i had a 1 of age child that used the computer an 2 adults that used the internet and phone for work and some internet steaming. Also, with the older child she could use their phone for personal calls. They said that we could easily do that with no problems.
We signed up... long story short, my wife and i had to get unlimited data on our phones (extra cost), we could only watch movies on Netflix and disney + during the morning or afternoon... but evening and night we. Could not stream any tv.
I called and told them this... they ended up saying they would discount me. This led them to cancelling my phone which they had never told me.
Dont go with them. They locked us into 2 years of he!
Just called to cancel today 2-14-20.I cancelled and returned all items in the box they sent as indicated to discover I was billed for the radio: Which I know was in the return box. Customer service was not helpful. Apologetic. I did not need the apologies. I figured an employee misplaced it or something. Then they had the nerve to send me a review of Customer Service without solving my problem. Will not recommend this service to anyone. For the years I have worked with other companies this us the first time I was billed for items return. TmHughesnet does not provide fast internet. I had problems with service, telephone service not working 50% of the time and spent alot of time on the phone trying to solve problems. One rep suggested I unplug my computer when not using it to stop the phantom usage of my data. Even when you pay for more service, the service did not change. Expensive and poor service. Also, I tried to leave a review on their site and they would not recognize my email. Therefore NO POOR REVIEWS! CT SullivanThey are wrong it can get worse than a one star. Never get this internet. I've had nothing but trouble and it's only been 4 days. I've called several times only to be transferred around and threatened with an early cancellation fee even tho I haven't had service since the day after install! I'm running at 77% LOWER than anyone else who has HughesNet in the world. This is awful company and I would recommend anyone who was thinking about it or who has it to get out now! Do not get. I would definitely rate this company at a zero star if I could.First, no such thing as a free installation. Just assume its going to cost $250 or more. Then you have to deal with super slow speeds and horrible service. We called and canceled service, but they kept billing our credit card! Had to cancel my credit card, then they turned our account over to a collection agency. Horrible company, awful people to deal with. STAY AWAY! DONT SIGN UP!I have found the customer service very helpful. In this day and age of technology, businesses have to continually work to upgrade and stay current. Hughesnet internet equipment is in part obsolete. Smart tv's do not have ethernet capability... yet, Hughesnet system provides ethernet cables to enhance their product. They are useless if you own a smart tv. This and the fact that only a slow 25 mps/10G is offered at the same price as cable high speed internet unlimited at 200 mps which makes Hughesnet very expensive. However, Hughesnet is more for rural locations that cable does not reach and because of this fact I think Hughesnet charges more. Understanding the basics before you enlist this service goes a long way in customer satisfaction. Going in with a good attitude, being agreeable and willing to work with customer service makes it a much nicer experience. The worst service I think I have ever received. When. My reception dropped from tree growing they wanted to charge $125 to fix my reception. Now trying to cancel I have been waiting on the for for 45 min. They charged me for the month I had no service and the guy I talked to on the phone was extremely rude and insisted that I'm paying for a service not a product even though I can't recieve service. Do you self a favor and don't use these people.Connection is so weak you can not play a game on facebook. The game will not load. They are charging me $400. To cancel my service. Because I can not return the equipment in time. This service was at my river property I only use in the summer. So the equipment is in my RV in storage. I will not return until summer. So they are charging me $400.00. This is the worse internet company in that area. DO NOT USE HOUGHESNETHughesnet gets great reception where usually the only other option is dial up access and haves fair rates for their service. My family has been satisfied with the equiptment and service. When I ordered hughesnet, the rep made it sound great. There has not been 1 day in a year that I've been able to watch anything without 100+ interruptions. My internet and all when I check my connection is working, so what is the problem. And don't think about getting an email or chat from them. Also they take their payment from my account and charge me a late fee every month, y the late fee, you pull the money out... never have I gotten receipt of service, a SAN number, anything... want to quit service but not sure if theres an early disconnect fee... they should pay it for horrible serviceI didn't want a phone service but the Rep told me that I had to include it in a "Bundle". In 6 months the phone service went from $10 to 30 per month. Now since I have a contract I have to pay to date $170.00 to remove the phone. The phone does not work if the internet is down powered by a satellite.
Internet is slow and I go thru 30 GBS in 2 weeks, and I'm not streaming TV. Only my husband and myself playing games a couple of hours per day.I had no idea this Hughes Internet could be this slow after the speed that was promised before purchase. And my VOIP phones will not work with it as well. Another faulty service! Unbelievable! The tech support is the worst type of robbery ever. After paying 199.99 the tech spend many hours trying to set up a new computer, but messed it all up instead. We had to hire an expect IT person to clean out all the damage and fix it. When cancelled and ask for a refund I was told I was only entitled to a $50.00 refund because I had used their service. Paying to have someone clean up the mess that they created is terrible. I am paying $150.00 for NOTHING.
Warning - do not fall into the same trap. Avoid this service like the plague. This is the worst service you can get! The installer was lazy... he made me burry the line to house for him and didn't give any kind of tutorial for how everything worked. Then, a few months in my service stopped working. I did tech chat three different times and they told me it was because it was cloudy! Why would I spend $80/month for a service that only worked when the sun shined?!? When I finally got through to someone they said it would be $265 to cancel! Unreal how horrible this company is! DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM THEM!I signed up for this service two years ago. Out of the 2 years, it has maybe worked for 6 months of and on. Called, called and called kept being transferred to another agent to better assist me. Finally asked to speak with a supervisor, they were conveniently never available but would call me back. Never received a call. They schedule a technician to come out to fix the problem. Drove 180 miles one way to my second home to meet them, only to be stood up after they changed the service day two times. They rescheduled the tech again, only for the tech to change the service day again and then again, no showed. This happened a third time when they rescheduled it. I kept getting the runaround from their agents and I finally cancelled the service at the end of the two years. They were going to send me a mailing box to return their router. I verified 3 time with the agent to send the return box to my billing address not the service address because I'm not at the service location all the time. No return box yet, so contacted Hughes Net again. Well, they sent to return box to the service location where I do not receive mail. They say they are unable to make the shipping address change that I had to. This has been 2 years of hell; do not use them they do not care. My friend a short way from my cabin got Hughes Net too right after me. He is in the process of terminating his contract as well because of service issues. We were a customer of Hughes Net for 12 years due to slowness of the WiFi we recently cancelled. Well after 2 months of disconnecting our services with Hughes Net they were still automatically drafting payments out of my account. I contact them about this matter and supposedly it was a computer glitch but for the best part they tell me I have to wait 10 days after the 2nd withdrawal was done. So they take money out of my account that didn't belong to them and I have to wait 10 days to get my money back. Do not do business with Hughes Net. They are thief's.The worst internet service i have ever had. Slow to no service at all. They do not provide advertised speeds as advertised. Complaints result in nothing. Expensive cancellation fees, horrible customer service
